the students. The students were very eager to know the traditional dresses

the ball/parcel
|
A ball was passed around the audience and when
‘stop’ was called out, whoever held the ball from the audience had to come
onto the stage and give a short performance. Speeches, a beautiful song and
rigorous martial arts and yoga were part of the performances. The game was entertaining
for everyone.

The topics ranged from fantastic merie names
to triplet of words. Children were given two minutes to convey the given

|
Children recited poems from “Rhythmic Rhymes” book.
The recitation was quite enjoyable as children used props and animation.

Teeth and oral hygiene
|
Teeth can last for a lifetime if you take care of
them from the beginning as they appear. By inculcating good oral hygiene
routines for children from the beginning gives them a chance to practice healthy
habits. Two doctors from MGMI Hospital, Dr.Arya Arun Varma and Dr.Marie Asha
Ambroise oriented the children about oral hygiene routines and the consequences
of eating junk food. They demonstrated about how to brush and played a video
about “Tooth Raja” which the children enjoyed immensely, followed by a song that
showed how we need to brush our teeth.

|
Children came together and were eager to learn the
skill of vegetable printing. While making the beautiful and artistic prints,
we reinforced the importance of including vegetables (fibre rich/protective
food) in their daily meals.

Pencil Drawing – Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
|
Children started to sketch the portrait of Dr.A.P.J.
Abdul Kalam ji. The non participants were engaged in giving them a brief
introduction of how the ancient people exhibited their drawing skills on the
walls, rocks etc using the natural materials such as leaves, fruits, clay
sand etc. Then they were told who invented the pencil (Nicholas Jack Kant).
Children were also taught about how to improve their pencil drawing skills. At
the end, the participants stunned us by drawing excellent portraits of
Dr.A.P.J. The Judge was impressed by the children’s talent.

|
The students were asked to bring necessary materials
for making photo frame. They were all enthusiastic to participate in this
activity. Some things that the students brought were popsicle sticks, straws,
bindi, etc. The little hands started working and when they finished they all
felt proud to display their photo frame.

There were quite a good number of enthusiastic
participants who displayed their talents. We the spectators were stunned to
see their talents. The judge had a hard time selecting the top 3 amongst all
the participants.

The students were asked to think and write
creatively for the questions that were asked. The question was “God has
blessed us with all the organs for the proper functioning. If God has given
you a boon of getting one more organ, which organ would you prefer and why?
Where would you want to have that organ? This helped the children to think
and write in a creative way.

The class was reverberated with the flawless
chanting of slokas from the scriptures like Hanuman Chalisa,
Vishnusahasranamam, etc. The audience were spellbound by the marvellous
rendition of the students.

and C. Questions were asked from various topics like science, Astronomy,
games/sports etc. Marks were allotted for the same. Finally the winners were
announced based on the marks obtained by the team. Children participated with

This session helped the children to overcome stage
fear and to speak with confidence. Children had to choose any one activity

participated in Origami during GA, conducted on 31.7.18. They were taught art
of paper folding how to make dog, fish and butterfly. The children enjoyed
immensely as they learnt the process of paper folding. This activity helped

KINDERGARTEN:
The
general assembly started with a few slokas and prayers. After the prayer, a
group of children from each class recited rhymes. This was followed by two
children from UKG, who spoke on the topic ‘Myself’. Finally, at the end of the
assembly, the Thirukurral certificates were given to the children and were

Bharathanatyam recital. D.R Adithyaa (VIII-A), Vikram (VIII-B) & Raghuram
(VIII-B) later entertained with their musical acapella performance which was
enjoyed by all.

Discussions were made to build their self esteem and to raise their level of
confidence. All the students came up with different qualities that were
innate to them. Through this process they realized that they are important,
