Students celebrated Krishna Jayanti  by singing songs of Lord Krishna. Teachers of class I and II recounted stories about the birth of Lord Krishna.

Good Habits and Good manners

The theme of this activity was to develop good habits and good manners in them. The children learnt and enjoyed the PPT shown on this topic. They showed much interest and the session was very interactive. This activity helped them to follow good habits in their daily life.

ISA ppt presentation

The ISA ppt presentation on different types of clothes for the following countries (India, UK, France, China) was shown to the students. The students were very eager to know the traditional dresses worn in different countries. They learnt new names of the different types of traditional clothes.

Healthy food

The Teachers shared about the importance of healthy food eg: fruits and vegetables. Use of puppets, flash card and real fruit items. The session was very interactive.

Dumb Charades – Proverbs

The students were asked to enact for the proverb given. They found it very interesting and enjoyed the session immensely.

English Skit

Two groups from each section participated and showed their creativity in the skit. The students of VI-A enacted about the conservation of nature and about the ill effects of Deforestation. The students of VI-B also enacted the importance of traffic rules.

Passing the ball/parcel

A ball was passed around the audience and when ‘stop’ was called out, whoever held the ball from the audience had to come onto the stage and give a short performance. Speeches, a beautiful song and rigorous martial arts and yoga were part of the performances. The game was entertaining for everyone.

Dumb charades

The topics ranged from fantastic merie names to triplet of words. Children were given two minutes to convey the given words to the audience through actions. The audience shouted out their countless suggestions.

Poem recitation competition

Children recited poems from “Rhythmic Rhymes” book. The recitation was quite enjoyable as children used props and animation.

Teeth and oral hygiene

Teeth can last for a lifetime if you take care of them from the beginning as they appear. By inculcating good oral hygiene routines for children from the beginning gives them a chance to practice healthy habits. Two doctors from MGMI Hospital, Dr.Arya Arun Varma and Dr.Marie Asha Ambroise oriented the children about oral hygiene routines and the consequences of eating junk food. They demonstrated about how to brush and played a video about “Tooth Raja” which the children enjoyed immensely, followed by a song that showed how we need to brush our teeth.

Vegetable Printing

Children came together and were eager to learn the skill of vegetable printing. While making the beautiful and artistic prints, we reinforced the importance of including vegetables (fibre rich/protective food) in their daily meals.

Pencil Drawing – Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Children started to sketch the portrait of Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam ji. The non participants were engaged in giving them a brief introduction of how the ancient people exhibited their drawing skills on the walls, rocks etc using the natural materials such as leaves, fruits, clay sand etc. Then they were told who invented the pencil (Nicholas Jack Kant). Children were also taught about how to improve their pencil drawing skills. At the end, the participants stunned us by drawing excellent portraits of Dr.A.P.J. The Judge was impressed by the children’s talent.

Photo Frame

The students were asked to bring necessary materials for making photo frame. They were all enthusiastic to participate in this activity. Some things that the students brought were popsicle sticks, straws, bindi, etc. The little hands started working and when they finished they all felt proud to display their photo frame.

Bindi Art

There were quite a good number of enthusiastic participants who displayed their talents. We the spectators were stunned to see their talents. The judge had a hard time selecting the top 3 amongst all the participants.

Life Skill – Creative Thinking

The students were asked to think and write creatively for the questions that were asked. The question was “God has blessed us with all the organs for the proper functioning. If God has given you a boon of getting one more organ, which organ would you prefer and why? Where would you want to have that organ? This helped the children to think and write in a creative way.

Sloka Recitation

The class was reverberated with the flawless chanting of slokas from the scriptures like Hanuman Chalisa, Vishnusahasranamam, etc. The audience were spellbound by the marvellous rendition of the students.

Quiz

Children were divided into three groups namely A, B and C. Questions were asked from various topics like science, Astronomy, games/sports etc. Marks were allotted for the same. Finally the winners were announced based on the marks obtained by the team. Children participated with great enthusiasm.

Open talk

This session helped the children to overcome stage fear and to speak with confidence. Children had to choose any one activity like role play, drama, mimics, etc. Based on the activity that was chosen, the children had to perform accordingly. Children had a wonderful experience after this session.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE MONTH OF JULY 2018

Grade I and II:

The students participated in Origami during GA, conducted on 31.7.18. They were taught art of paper folding how to make dog, fish and butterfly. The children enjoyed immensely as they learnt the process of paper folding. This activity helped them to increase their focus and concentration.

Children were fluent with the phrases which were designed to be difficult with its articulation. It was interesting to see the spectators trying to catch the phrases.

The children brought the materials needed like coloured powder, rice, sand and flowers to decorate the art and participated enthusiastically. The children were exposed to creativity by doing colourful designs.

Craft work like paper bag, flower vase, pencil box, creative art, wall hanger and key chain were made by the students and displayed. Each one of them explained about their craft work to the other students.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE 2018

KINDERGARTEN:

The general assembly started with a few slokas and prayers. After the prayer, a group of children from each class recited rhymes. This was followed by two children from UKG, who spoke on the topic ‘Myself’. Finally, at the end of the assembly, the Thirukurral certificates were given to the children and were appreciated for their achievements.

The students made posters about the benefits of yoga. They enthusiastically participated in the activity and made colorful posters using charts, color sketches, colour tape and pictures of Asanas. The students enjoyed this activity immensely.

Classical and western dance

The general assembly started with a prayer song by Pooja Kannan of class VIII-A. Shamruth Ram of class VII-A performed a western solo of which the music was given by Easwarnath (VII-A) Priyadarshini of class VII-B gave a solo Bharathanatyam recital. D.R Adithyaa (VIII-A), Vikram (VIII-B) & Raghuram (VIII-B) later entertained with their musical acapella performance which was enjoyed by all.

The students were picked at random and were given diverse topics. They were given one minute to think and were asked to share their opinions on their respective topics. The session was informative and very interesting.

In this session the students were made to understand about themselves. Discussions were made to build their self esteem and to raise their level of confidence. All the students came up with different qualities that were innate to them. Through this process they realized that they are important, competent and unique too.
